Programme: Low-Carbon Development Study Camp in Western China

Partner Institution: Lanzhou University

Period: August 21—26, 2023

First of all, I would like to thank Lanzhou University for providing me with this valuable opportunity to learn about the customs and traditions of the western region of China. On this trip, I not only witnessed the vastness of the Gobi Desert but also marveled at the beauty of the desert oases. These unique features of the western region opened my eyes.

In this training camp for Green and Low-Carbon Development in the West, I learned the importance of promoting green and low-carbon development and the urgency of breaking the resource and environmental constraints to help the western region develop vigorously. Implementing a green economy is not only an important measure to change the mode of economic development in the region but also an inevitable choice to enhance the strength to resist external risks.

We learned about the culture of the western region not only from the rich collections of the Gansu Museum, the long history of Lanzhou University, the wisdom of water wheel irrigation on the Yellow River, and the historical relics of Jiayuguan City but also from other past events. At the same time, we also understood the future development trends from the protection and restoration of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, the ecological environment management of the Crescent Spring in Mingsha Mountain, and the green energy development of the photoelectric Expo park.

To sum up, I am very honored to have had the opportunity to participate in this training camp and am very happy to have gained these valuable experiences.
