During this winter course study program at Fudan University, I have learnt a lot from both professors and other students. I studied econometrics and international finance. International finance studies corporate financial decisions in an international setting. The professor started with basic concepts of international financial markets. These concepts include the global foreign exchange market, good market and the international capital market. I found international finance quite interesting and challenging, and the professor and tutors were willing to lend a helping hand to me.
During the class, not only did the professor delivered a very effective teaching, but he also encouraged us to think out of the box and stimulate the discussion among students. He also encouraged us to ask question as he believed it is the best way to show your understanding of the concepts. I totally agree with him as I found myself having deeper understanding of the course when I try to come up a question every class .The homework is a bit hard to me, which took me quite a lot of time to finish it.
Besides, econometrics is the best statistic course that I have had in the winter school. It is mainly about linear regression model and multivariable regression model, which is quite useful when doing research course later in the University of Hong Kong. The professor is quite nice and he always try his best to make the class more interesting. We, as a student, gave great response to him. This cultivate a fantastic learning environment, which push everyone to study hard. The problem set is a bit challenging. Yet, with the help from the teaching assistant, we eventually finish all the problem sets. This winter school is a great learning experience, which widened my horizon and deepened my understanding toward the teaching quality and arrangement of Fudan University. I recommend every student in HKU should join the China vision programme.
