About the Programme

The summer camp is jointly organized by the Urban Systems Institute of The University of Hong Kong and the Institute for Future Human Habitats of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, and hosted by the Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning and Design. It brings together the academic and teaching strengths of HKU and Tsinghua University with BMICPD’s experience in planning practice and technology applications.


The programme focuses on urban governance, public policy, urban planning, big data, artificial intelligence, smart-city applications and planning decision support. Through expert lectures, group projects, workshops and field visits, participants will examine real-world urban issues and develop interdisciplinary project outcomes under the guidance of academics and planning professionals. Participants who complete all programme requirements will receive a certificate of completion.

Eligibility

  • HKU undergraduate and postgraduate students from all disciplines are welcome to apply.

  • Priority will be given to students in related disciplines.

  • Young professionals in urban management, planning, design, transport, urban renewal, and smart-city fields may also apply.

Requirement

Applicants should submit a résumé, a copy of their student card or employment identification, a copy of their identity document, and proof of payment through the online application form. Participants are expected to attend the full programme and take part in lectures, group projects, field visits and the final presentation.

Programme Fee

RMB 6,500 per person. The fee does not include round-trip transportation, accommodation or meals.

Financial Assistance

Subsidies are provided for HKU students to pursue exchange activities in Mainland China. For eligibility and application, please click here for further details.
