Subsidy Scheme for Student Learning Activities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area
About the Scheme
To encourage local undergraduate students to gain more learning experience in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and promote a culturally diverse learning environment, the University Grants Committee provides subsidies to support students' outbound learning activities in the GBA.

HK$6,000
Eligibility

Local students enrolled in full-time undergraduate programmes at HKU at the time of application and throughout the subsidized internship. (For final-year students, please contact your home Faculty to confirm that your student status will be valid throughout the internship period.)

Participation in paid/unpaid internships, including practicum, to be held in the GBA (excluding Hong Kong) for a minimum duration of 4 weeks on a full-time basis, and be organized/coordinated by HKU Faculty/Department/Unit, commencing between May 1, 2024, and June 30, 2026.

*The Greater Bay Area consists of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Huizhou, Zhaoqing, Hong Kong and Macao.

Application Procedures

Complete the online application with the following documents at least 2 weeks before commencement of the internship for pre-approval:

Confirmation of internship showing your full name, internship period and company name (e.g. internship offer email, letter of acceptance, etc.)

Confirmation from your home Faculty regarding the validity of student status throughout the internship period (for final-year students only)

For programmes commencing between September 1, 2024 - August 31, 2025

Results will be released within 2 weeks upon receipt of the completed application.

Upon completion of the internship, students are required to submit an internship report, including the following documents, within 1 month:

Proof of completion of the internship showing your full name, internship period and company name (e.g. certificate from the company, confirmation from faculty etc.)

Sharing in English (at least 300 words)

5 photos showing your learning and living experience during the internship

Applications will be processed on a rolling basis all year round.

Late submissions or incomplete applications will NOT be entertained.
